Matthew Blazi Talks Blair Witch

Matthew Blazi is an author and has just released 8 Days in the Woods: The Making of the Blair Witch Project. He’s not only a fan of the infamous Blair Witch, he’s a die-hard ‘90s fan!
8 Days in the Woods tells the story of how the idea to make a small budget film turned out to be one of the biggest films in 1999. The story of how “The Blair Witch Project” is rooted in the desire to create a horror film that was set apart from everything that had been coming out in the mid ’90s.
8 Days covers every aspect of the making of “The Blair Witch Project” from inception to release. It details how Haxan Films built a world by creating a mythology and meticulously executed an unconventional film shoot that wasn’t meant to be the film we saw. Originally set out to be a documentary-style film, quickly turned into what many call the first true found footage film.
“As a fan of the ‘Blair Witch Project’ since the first trailer dropped online, I have always felt that the film was more important to the horror film genre in modern times that most understand. From the time I saw the film in the theater in 1999. I needed to know more. Visiting the house from the end of the film before it was torn down, to now conducting ‘The Blair Witch Experience’ each year, I try to share with others what I feel makes ‘The Blair Witch Project’ so unique,” Blazi states.
